Project Overview
The Brief
Vertu Motors approached Alpine Air to design and install a high-performance air conditioning system for their Boldon automotive showroom. The dealership includes a large open-plan vehicle display area, customer lounge, service reception, and multiple staff offices.
The client’s priorities were clear: they needed a system that could maintain consistent comfort in a high-ceilinged showroom, provide discreet solutions for customer-facing spaces, and allow staff in offices and back-of-house areas to manage their own temperature settings. As the dealership remained operational throughout the works, installation had to be carefully planned to avoid disrupting customers or day-to-day business.
Energy efficiency was another key requirement. Vertu Motors wanted a future-proof solution that would help reduce long-term running costs while supporting their sustainability commitments.
Our Solution
Following a full site survey, Alpine Air specified a Mitsubishi Electric VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system. VRF technology was chosen for its ability to deliver efficient, zoned climate control across large and varied environments - ideal for a combination of showrooms, offices, and service areas.
For the main showroom, high-capacity ceiling cassette units were installed to provide even air distribution across the large open space. These units were carefully positioned to avoid draughts and ensure customer comfort throughout the display floor. In the staff offices and service reception, compact wall-mounted units were installed, giving independent control for smaller spaces while maintaining a clean, unobtrusive finish.
Our engineers worked to a phased installation plan, coordinating with the dealership’s operating hours to minimise disruption. Any noisy or disruptive works were scheduled out of hours, and all services were routed neatly through existing voids and risers to maintain the building’s professional aesthetic. As always, the installation was completed by Alpine Air’s in-house F-Gas certified engineers, ensuring full compliance and manufacturer-standard commissioning.
The Outcome
The project was delivered on schedule and with no disruption to dealership operations. The Mitsubishi Electric VRF system now provides year-round comfort, keeping the showroom cool in summer and efficiently heated in winter. The system’s zoning capability allows different areas of the dealership - from the sales floor to offices and service areas — to be managed independently, reducing wasted energy and enhancing comfort for both customers and staff.
Compared to conventional HVAC systems, the new installation offers significant energy savings and lower running costs, supporting Vertu Motors’ long-term operational goals. Feedback from dealership management has been very positive, with particular praise for the quiet operation, quality of installation, and the neat integration of indoor units within customer-facing areas.
This project demonstrates Alpine Air’s ability to deliver large-scale commercial installations in operational environments, balancing technical expertise, premium equipment, and careful planning to achieve both client satisfaction and long-term system performance.
